On Tuesday 13th March, we started making our fast-moving vehicles in the DT room at Sirius Academy.
We started by measuring two 20cm lengths of wood and two 15cm lengths of wood for our frame. In total we spent three and a half hours working on making our frames then improving. During the midway point of the lesson Mrs Kelly accidentally leaned on a switch which turned off all the power in the facility. Then the teacher in charge of the room informed us that the switch needs a key to turn the power back on to the room. Inside the facility we used equipment supplied by the academy including a vice, saws, drills and wheels.
When we moved on to making our axles, we ran out of a special tool which we’ll use for our motor so it can move our wheels in a fast motion. Near the end of the lesson Mr Raw told us to make an outline for our vehicles so when we used cardboard to decorate our vehicle in a very interesting way we’d have an outline for it. Giai, one of the students in Year Six, made an outline for a cool car whilst Yashfin tried to make an outline for a Harry Potter night bus. To glue our pieces together, Mr Leader showed us how to use a glue gun to attach our parts. At ten past twelve Mr Raw told us to pack up and stop sawing. Even though Yashfin had been told not to, he kept sawing whilst being unseen. At the end of the lesson Mr Raw told us to take our vehicles up to the classroom and get ready for a play before lunch. It was great!
