Thursday 14th June saw the Year 3 and 4 cricket team narrowly pipped for a place in the county finals at Headingly cricket ground. The side competed in the regional finals at Welton and Brough Cricket Club and showed much of their previous form which had seen them succeed in the preliminary rounds. Once against he side was captained fabulously captained by Oliver McKee and notable performances were also produced by Charlie Beadle and Max Chadwick, both of Year 3.
The side comfortably beat Spring Cottage in a one sided affair, before narrowly losing to the winners, Driffield Primary School. The game swung on one or two wicket and some powerful hitting in Driffield’s middle overs. Victoria Dock’s total of 242 never looked like it would be quite enough and they eventually lost by 9 runs.
I would like to take this chance though to praise the side for the commitment and attitude they have shown throughout the competition. They have been a credit to the school and certainly will succeed in the future.
Well done!
