Healthy Lifestyle

At Victoria Dock Primary School, living a healthy lifestyle is very much part of our curriculum. Lessons include healthy eating, safe practices, drug awareness and sex education (as appropriate).

We focus on inclusivity, valuing every member of our school community, building on mutual respect and understanding.

Our menus are based on healthy options, offering children plenty of choice. Drinking water is available throughout the day within the classroom. Meals are cooked on the premises and are of a high standard. To view the menus and/or open a pdf prinatable version, Click here.

Physical Education is taught for two hours per week from Year 1 to Year 6 and in addition, children from Foundation 2 to Year 6 have a fitness session each week taken by a qualified fitness instructor. The Timetables for Physical Education can be seen by clicking Physical Education Timetables.

Every effort is made for all children to learn to swim before they leave us in Year 6 through a structured swimming programme, again taken by qualified instructors. From September 2008, all year groups from Year 1 to Year 6 have swimming lessons during the year, such is its value to the overall health and well-being of the children.

Many sports after school clubs are available for children to access – including football, gymnastics, dance, table-tennis, rugby, cycling, running and badminton. These clubs may change according to the season. The current clubs on offer can be found by clicking here.

A Message From the Head Teacher

Mr. KiteMr. Kite

At Victoria Dock Primary School all children will be given opportunities and experiences to inspire them to be the very best they can be. We know that every child is different and every child is great in many ways. Through true collaboration and sharing of ideas and views we will give the children every possible chance to shine – together we can make your children’s time at school the very best it can possibly be and help to unlock their talents.

The academic year 2012/2013 is now well into the final term but there are still many weeks left of valuable learning time. Let us make the most of every day and continue to strive for excellence in all we do.

As always, we are working together for your children.
